This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. Hebrew 6:19-20
I was driving in my car Saturday, full of fear and grief for some dear friends of mine. Their child is sick and they are still unsure what they are dealing with. What a scary place to be. I can feel their burden weighing on my tense shoulders. Tears brim my eyes as I share their emotional weight. Though I cannot imagine what they are actual feeling, I know God can help us share with them in this season. Isn't that what we are called to do? To share one another's burdens. Sadly, there isn't much physically we can do for them right now. But we can storm the gates of heaven for their cause. Pray without ceasing for healing. We can encourage our family in Christ with kind words and letting them see we are here.
I don't know about you, but sometimes this world can be too much. In the past two weeks, I have family and friends who've lost a family member, lost an unborn child and now one whose child is ill. It's terribly exhausting, this life. Sometimes the burdens can feel too much. I'm sure several of these families have thought this during the trials they are facing.
But while I was driving, Chris Tomlin's song I Will Rise came on the radio. It was just what I need because we have a HOPE. Those who trust in Christ as their savior have security beyond the troubles of this world. When there seems nothing else to grab onto in the trials of this life blowing us to and fro...there is an anchor for our soul. Please join with me in praying for these three families and I'm sure the countless others who need the comfort and support of the body of Christ.
Chris Tomlin, I Will Rise
There's a peace I've come to know Though my heart and flesh may fail There's an anchor for my soul I can say "It is well"
Jesus has overcome And the grave is overwhelmed The victory is won He is risen from the dead
[Chorus:] And I will rise when He calls my name No more sorrow, no more pain I will rise on eagles' wings Before my God fall on my knees And rise I will rise
There's a day that's drawing near When this darkness breaks to light And the shadows disappear And my faith shall be my eyes
Jesus has overcome And the grave is overwhelmed The victory is won He is risen from the dead
[Chorus:] And I will rise when He calls my name No more sorrow, no more pain I will rise on eagles' wings Before my God fall on my knees And rise I will rise
And I hear the voice of many angels sing, "Worthy is the Lamb" And I hear the cry of every longing heart, "Worthy is the Lamb" [x2]
[Chorus:] And I will rise when He calls my name No more sorrow, no more pain I will rise on eagles' wings Before my God fall on my knees And rise I will rise
